How to Choose the Right Flyer Size

A quick guide to sizing, formats and when to use what.

Choosing the wrong size for your flyer is one of the most common and costly print mistakes. It affects cost, readability and how people interact with the piece.

DL (99 × 210mm) - The slim, letterbox-friendly format. Perfect for racks, countertops and direct mail inserts. Great for service businesses, salons and restaurants.

A5 (148 × 210mm) - The most versatile flyer size. Large enough to carry a real message, small enough to hand to someone without being intrusive. A reliable workhorse for events, promotions and menus.

A4 (210 × 297mm) - For when you need serious real estate. Good for detailed content: menus, timetables, price lists or anything that benefits from breathing room. Less suited to handouts but excellent for noticeboards.

A3 (297 × 420mm) - More poster than flyer. Use this for bold, impactful visuals where you want to dominate a wall or window.

The format matters too. Portrait tends to feel more editorial; landscape feels more dynamic and cinematic. Think about where the piece will live before you decide.
